Uli Plettendorfftrombone |
Born in 1966 in Münster, Germany.Studied eight years on trumpet, and switched to the trombone at the age of 15. Graduated on trombone at the Conservatory of Music in Hamburg. Advanced studies at the Conservatory of Hilversum, where he graduated in 1991 with Bart van Lier on jazz trombone. Between 1992 and 1994 he participated in the master classes of Jiggs Whigham at the Conservatory of Cologne, Germany. Played as lead trombonist in many different big band settings. Between 1995 and 1997 Uli was the regular lead trombonist of Bob Brookmeyer's 'New Art Orchestra', and since 1995 up to this date, Uli heads the trombone sections of both the Glenn Miller Orchestra Europe, the Paul Kuhn Orchestra, and the Concert Big Band of the Cologne Philharmonic. With these and other orchestras, Uli toured extensively throughout Europe and the USA, and accompanied musicians such as Clark Terry, Shirley Bassey, Johnny Griffin, Nancy Sinatra, Benny Golson, Joe Levano, Toots Tielemans, Kenny Wheeler, and many more. Next to his orchestral work at major international venues and jazz festivals, Uli participated in many live TV & radio broadcasting shows, musicals, and studio productions. Current bands and projects include Wil Salden's Glenn Miller Orchestra, and Interzone. |
